Carlton Convicts released from Old Melbourne Gaol

You’ve heard us talk about the crimes of the Carlton Convicts… Amanda “Four-Eyed Felon” Cirillo, Rebecca “Rebel with a Cause” Giarrusso and Stuart “The Shark” Ayer, but we suppose you’re wondering how they went behind bars at Whitelion’s annual Bail Out at Old Melbourne Gaol on 25th May?
Well, the troublesome trio turned into a double act after “The Shark” made a lucky escape, while the other two were caught and locked up. They were stripped of their possessions, fed prison gruel and sent to the yard for exercise and work.
“Rebel with a Cause” said that “Bail Out was a real eye opening experience. Hearing from past offenders and people that work with Whitelion was absolutely fantastic and allowed us to get a first-hand account of how Whitelion help young people… the prison gruel was surprisingly tasty too!”
“Four-Eyed Felon” shared the viewsof “Rebel with a Cause”, and said “Working with Whitelion at Pesel & Carr is really special. We’re able to help this amazing organisation support young people in the community that really need it. Being able to go behind the scenes at Bail Out and feel what it’s like inside a cold prison cell and being confronted by guards is something that will stick with me for a long time.”
While behind bars, the Carlton Convicts ran into another gang , crossing paths with members of the Deakin Melbourne Boomers. Maddie Garrick, Ezi Magbegor and Monique Conti were sentenced for dribbling violations and an offensive foul.
After experiencing a mock interrogation, they were granted bail having raised funds to assist Whitelion in continuing to support young people.
The two accepted and enjoyed their freedom with a celebratory drink after their release.

Pesel & Carr helps launch youth suicide prevention initiative

Pesel & Carr has teamed up with the Australian Suicide Prevention Foundation (ASPF) to develop and launch the “You are not alone” competition – which has support from a number of Australian A-listers including filmmaker Gillian Armstrong.
Targeted at Victorian secondary and tertiary students, the initiative aims to spread messages of help and care, and support the fight against suicide – the biggest killer of young Australians.
High school and university students joined Minister for Mental Health the Hon. Martin Foley MP and ASPF representatives, to officially launch the competition at Albert Park College today.
A tribute to authenticity on social media

Long gone are the days of blog posts asking whether or not your brand should be on social media; most organisations would agree it has a place – but when you look at the content and tone of some incredibly successful social media accounts, it is easy to be intimidated.
Meet the Carlton Convicts

A unique experience that is both theatrical and educational, the Bail Out event gives participants an opportunity to step into the shoes of at-risk youth that have disconnected from their community for a variety of reasons; including abuse, neglect, drug addiction and poverty.
