The Pacific Group of Companies (PGOC) has announced it will invest $370 million into the redevelopment of Werribee Plaza Shopping Centre, with construction set to begin next month.
The redevelopment will expand the Centre’s size by over 35,000 square metres with new fashion, fresh food, dining and entertainment precincts.
To mark this exciting change, a new name will be adopted. Werribee Plaza will become ‘Pacific Werribee’, positioned to become the premier retail destination in Melbourne’s west. The word ‘Pacific’ has been adopted from the parent company, unifying the successful network of Centres across Victoria.
The new brand represents the myriad of lifestyle experiences Pacific Werribee will provide in the west. The new look is bold, fresh and communicates an increasingly diverse offering to customers.
Development highlights include:
- new two-level Myer store
- new Target store
- more than 120 new shops and kiosks
- new fresh food precinct branded Hunter & Gatherer to include Woolworths and a new ALDI
- Village Cinemas redevelopment with the addition of 2 Gold Class Cinemas
- outdoor al fresco restaurants and cafés
- 1500 additional car parking spaces
- new 10-bus terminal interchange
A key addition to the Centre is a new two-story, 12,500 square-metre Myer department store that will elevate Pacific Werribee’s classification to a Regional Shopping Centre from its current ‘Sub-Regional’ category.
The redevelopment of Pacific Werribee will boost its position in the Wyndham region which is at the centre of Melbourne’s western corridor. The region has experienced the largest and fastest population growth in all local government areas in Victoria and is the third-fastest growing in Australia. Graham Terry from The Pacific Group of Companies said, “Pacific Werribee’s development will cement its position as the leading shopping centre in the heart of the west and is a major asset for the rapidly growing community in the surrounding suburbs.
“We are committed to building our flagship property into more than a shopping centre. We are becoming a destination that offers more lifestyle choices for the growing population and changing demographic in Melbourne’s west.”
Pacific Werribee will feature a dedicated fresh food precinct to be called Hunter & Gatherer (H&G), al fresco dining options and an enhanced entertainment precinct including two Gold Class Village Cinemas.
The Pacific Group of Companies Regional General Manager, Fiona Mackenzie said, “We know the community has been waiting a long time, and this plan has been developed to meet our customers’ needs and create a first choice destination when it comes to retail and lifestyle experiences in the west.”
Early works have already commenced with the construction of a new 10-bus terminal interchange that will be located next to the new dining and entertainment precinct.
