Evaluating IABC’s Gold Quill awards

A group of people are sitting on the floor. They are in discussion, some have laptops some have note pads.

Over the past four decades, the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) has been recognising and rewarding exceptional achievements in strategic communication worldwide through its prestigious Gold Quill Awards.

For the last couple of years Barbara has been appointed chair of the IABC Blue Ribbon Panels.  The panel is tasked with evaluating IABC Gold Quill Award entries. All involved volunteer their time, they are often award winners themselves some are veterans of the process, and other newbies. The amount of work and consideration that goes into evaluating each award is substantial

Aside from scoring individual entries for either a Gold Quill of Excellence or a Gold Quill of Merit they provide high-quality and helpful feedback to the entrants. The feedback is critical part of helping to uplift individuals to become better communicators and in turn the industry.

IABC is committed to building a profession that is valued without prejudice or discrimination. Their recognition of outstanding work in the field of communication helps to raise standards and promote the profession. The Gold Quill Awards recognise excellence in strategic communication and help to inspire communicators to continue to strive for excellence.

Barbara is not exaggerating when she says that participating in the IABC Gold Quills – as an entrant, an evaluator and chair – has made her a better communicator.

The awards program is valuable in so many ways and all communication professionals would benefit from taking part.
